8NHP Marshall 'The Brigadier'
1934 8NHP Marshall 87005, 'The Brigadier' is another engine which made its debut at the Bedford Steam & Country Fayre 2024. When we collected the engine, the piston was initially seized. When the motion was dismantled the piston rings had an unusual arrangement. Fortunately the bore of the cylinder was good thus we have replaced the rings with a standard set. Upon steaming the engine to test the new rings out the Brigadier blew a couple of tubes and has subsequently had a replacement set. While doing these works Marston Steam has repainted the engine using the traditional technique of coach painting and the motion work has been plated in an anti rust Nisheen finish. We pride ourselves in painting this way and do not spray.
4" Fowler Road Loco Re-paint
Marston Steam was commissioned to coach paint and line this 4" Fowler Road Loco. The lining has been scaled down from full size fowler lining specifications. The engine was completely stripped and taken back to bare in order to complete the process.
The Restoration of 'Old Nick'
1908 General Purpose Engine Old Nick, came to Marston after initial boiler works. Marston Steam was tasked with bringing the engine back to life with machining, blasting/painting & lining, chrome detailing and further mechanical works. Please watch the video below to find out more about the engine and what has been done to it.
