Restorations & Services

With over 50 years combined experience, Marston Steam & Vintage Restoration have the facilities to fully restore full-size and miniature traction engines including rollers! No job is too big or too small*, our one stop shop can turn your engine around covering all areas such as machining, crank balancing, re-bushing, shot-blasting, traditional hand painting boiler re-tubing and much more. For legislative purposes, any boiler work such as re-boxing and plate work is carried out by our engineering partners.
Full-size

Full size steam is second nature to us. We can do anything from servicing those tricky injectors to a full strip-down for a hydraulic. Below is a list of some of the areas we cover

  • Re-tube.

  • Steam test preparation.

  • Hydraulic preparation and testing.

  • Dismantling and re-assembly of engines for boiler work.

  • Engineering work such as piston rods, piston rings, motion work etc.

*Minatures

We are happy to carry out restoration and repairs to miniatures down to 3". Our services are very much similar to working with full size but just on that smaller scale.

Shot-blasting

Here at Marston, we are lucky enough to have our own in-house shot blaster. Steve has over 30 years experience within the field and has worked with steam engines since he was a young lad. Steve knows his stuff and treats every engine as his own taking great care to cover sensitive parts.

Sign Writing & Livery

Our in-house sign writer, Karl Titchener is renowned for his skill for traditional sign writing. Marston hold the detailed drawings for each steam engine out there and has the facility to match any engine colour.

Karl prefers to use traditional painting methods and will provide you with industry leading advice with the most suitable paint for your engine and aftercare. For more information please follow the link
